Biomedical Engineering

Fidel G. Fernandez, Ph.D.
Senior Academic Advisor II
What that really means:
Most students stop by to see me due to my vast knowledge on college student issues, graduation requirements and biomedical engineering career options. This also means that I have helped thousands of students meet their academic goals throughout my 20-year professional career at Texas A&M. I enjoy solving puzzles, and I see each student question as a unique puzzle to be solved. So hit me with your best questions
!
Best advice for prospective students:
As a senior in high school, don’t let up!
Apply early! Undergraduate admission is coordinated through the Office of Admissions. Their current process is a rolling admission, kind of “first-come, first-served” basis. Biomedical engineering is popular and fills up quickly, and we don’t want you to miss out.
Favorite Aggie tradition:
The Aggie ring! They are all alike and recognized around the world! I was at Heathrow Airport in London once, and a person walked by flashing me her Aggie ring because she recognized mine. It works wonders for networking!
Must-see on campus:
Kyle Field during a football game. It is amazing to see the students lock arms and sway from one side to another while singing the Aggie War Hymn (our school fight song) in unison.
Little-known fact about me:
I enjoy playing my tenor sax. I also like working on my ’71 maroon Corvette. The engine on my Corvette produces more than 400 horsepower, and I designed and built the engine myself. I was also honored by being selected as a Fish Camp Namesake.
